| Rock & Roll Dinosaur, Jackslacks Shield of Love, 2002
Maybe you should start by reading Jackslacks' bio "The Curse of Rockabilly" at his website (www.jackslacks.com), a story which can also be found on the CD-inlay. Jackslacks is more of an anthology of rock 'n' roll drummer and singer Chris Giorgio. Having played with bands like Toast Band, Waykools, Forbidden Pigs, Nobody's Business, Hot Rod Lincoln, and Johnny Mercury & The Hot Rockets (to name but a few), the man really is a rock 'n' roll dinosaur. This CD is an overview of his career, which started way back in the early 80s and spans over 20 years and also includes 5 tracks produced by Stray Cats' bassplayer Lee Rocker. Tracklisting: The above is a collection of rockabilly and rock 'n' roll music, based on the original 50s and 60s sound, with influences of the rockabilly revival sound of the 80s. Jackslacks recalls: "I went to a ton of Stray Cats concerts, including their last at the World's Fair in New Orleans." Any way you look at it (or listen to it), this platter offers a wide variety of sounds and rhythms ranging from rockabilly and rock 'n' roll to cajun and mersey beat. It's also a historic document, although some of the 60s sounds may not appeal to rockabilly purists. A fine addition to any rock 'n' roll collection.
